The University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine launched the Animals Need Heroes Too campaign to raise money for a $115 million modernization and expansion. Facilities designed to handle up to 12,000 patients a year now handle more than 26,000 patients annually, and the expansion would include more lab space for infectious disease research, says the school's dean, veterinarian Mark Markel.
