Elderly patients discharged from the hospital face a sharply higher risk of falling within the next six months, and more than half who suffer a fall are seriously injured, according a study in the journal Age and Ageing. Researchers found that home modifications were the most effective approach to reducing the risk among people who have fallen in the past.
