Chinese tariffs on American whiskey are effectively putting a stop to the 1,200% growth rate that American spirits enjoyed over the past 17 years in the Chinese market. "We hope the United States and China can soon resolve their differences so that the US whiskey exports to China will no longer be subject to the 25% tariff, which will harm Chinese consumers, its hospitality sector, US whiskey exports and the US farmers that supply them," said Christine Locascio of the Distilled Spirits Council.
