The global popularity of American liquor is surging, with exports out of the US rising 10.6% during the first six months of this year, according to the Distilled Spirits Council. Much of the export uptick is credited to a growing international demand for US whiskey, a category that includes American rye, Tennessee whiskey and bourbon.
