North Palm Beach County Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla., plans to lengthen the diagonal runway from 4,300 feet to 6,000 feet to accommodate larger jets and rising aircraft operations. The US Army has awarded a $1.9 million Small Business Innovation Research contract to Electra.aero for experiments with the company's nine-passenger, hybrid-electric aircraft. This contract, which follows similar agreements Electra has with AFWERX, involves powered wind tunnel testing of the aircraft's short takeoff and landing capabilities.
