Verizon will provide low-income homes with free service for six months to Fios, 5G Home or LTE Home Internet services under its "Verizon Forward" program, which typically reduces the cost of service to $20 a month. The promotion aims to replace the Affordable Connectivity Program, which is set to run out of cash this month.

Representatives should back a discharge petition forcing the House to vote on renewing Affordable Connectivity Program funding, 270 municipalities and advocacy groups stated in a recent letter. "We cannot let these families lose their vital connections merely because Congress failed to vote on an immensely popular bill with a bipartisan majority's support," the letter from the coalition states.

JB Smoove podcast promotes AT&T Fiber

Actor and comedian JB Smoove is hosting a podcast series for AT&T Fiber that promotes the telecom's claims of "Straightforward," no-nonsense pricing. The podcasts feature Smoove dispensing bite-sized life advice in 13 episodes ranging from 22 to 35 seconds.

Puerto Rico is receiving $461 million in federal aid to expand its connectivity and build out its telecommunications infrastructure. Under the program, fixed connectivity is set to reach 100%, and Wanda PĂ©rez of the Puerto Rican Telecommunications Alliance says the island will achieve 100% high-speed internet connectivity by 2028.

US homes with internet increased their average weekly video viewing by six hours between 2020 and the present, and 61% watch subscription streaming services over TV sets, Parks Associates found in a recent survey. Parks analyst Sarah Lee said that "many households enjoy a balance between finding something to watch and watching what they find."
