Premium channel customers were more satisfied with their DIRECTV and DISH Network service than those who subscribed to cable, according to a J.D. Power and Associates survey of more than 20,000 people. Those who subscribe to premium channels also proved to be more loyal customers than those with basic tiers. "Television providers catering to these high-value subscribers with video-on-demand and mobile applications will be well positioned to keep these customers and grow their relationship, moving forward," J.D. Power's Frank Perazzini said. Home Media Magazine (10/16) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
  • DISH restores AMC after lawsuit settlement
AMC's channels will return to the DISH Network lineup as part of a settlement that resolves a 4-year-old lawsuit involving the parties. In June, DISH removed AMC's programming from its service, saying it cost too much. AMC's flagship network was back on DISH on Sunday, while the Sundance Channel, WE tv and IFC will resume Nov. 1. "This multiyear deal delivers a fair value for both parties and includes digital expansion opportunities for AMC Networks' programming," DISH's Dave Shull said in a statement. • Pesky problems with do-it-yourself marketing
Handling your own marketing initiatives can be problematic because you likely won't be able to make an honest assessment of your company, John Follis writes. "To be successful at marketing, business blemishes must be seen clearly," he writes. "As a business owner you just don't have that objectivity."
