Congressman suggests Philadelphia build a casino: Rep. Bob Brady, D-Pa., says Philadelphia should build its own casino. "It's a no-brainer. There's absolutely no downside to this thing that I can think of," Brady said. His proposal, called GamePoint, calls for the construction of a 300-room hotel, a concert venue, a nightclub and a parking garage. The Philadelphia Inquirer

- Caesars outlines changes to casino planned for Baltimore
Caesars Entertainment has made changes to its casino plans for Baltimore following this week's passage of a referendum allowing tables games in Maryland. The company said it now plans to name the gaming facility Horseshoe Baltimore, which will offer up to eight kinds of games at up to 110 tables. "We believe we will have a very large table games business," said John Payne, Caesars president for enterprise shared services. - Nevada casinos post 3% increase for September
Nevada's gaming revenue in September rose 3% to $893 million compared with revenue in the same period last year. Meanwhile, casinos on the Las Vegas Strip took in $497 million during the month -- a 1.2% rise on a year-over-year basis. Tax collections on September winnings increased 38% to $71 million from last year. CNBC

Number of visitors to Las Vegas in September was up 1.8%: The number of visitors to Las Vegas rose 1.8% to 3.35 million in September, compared with 3.29 million in the same month last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Scott Russell, senior manager of research for the LVCVA, said the city is on track to exceed its previous record of 39.2 million visitors in 2007. - Atlantic City looks to improve Boardwalk experience with public art
Atlantic City, N.J., officials are hoping to bring in more tourists and enhance the experience of walking along the Boardwalk by adding more attractions such as public art and displays. "We do think it will create interest in people who maybe had never thought of coming to Atlantic City. It really does appeal to the creative class," said Liza Cartmell, president and CEO of the Atlantic City Alliance. The Press of Atlantic City (N.J.)

- Turning Stone building $25 million entertainment complex
The Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, N.Y., is expanding with a $25 million entertainment complex, which would include a lounge, a rock 'n' roll club, a dance hall and a vintage piano bar. Ground was broken Thursday for the Exit 33 project, which is expected to be completed next year. "This will be a venue unlike anything else in the area, even the state," said Ray Halbritter, Nation Enterprises CEO and Oneida Indian Nation representative. Observer-Dispatch (Utica, N.Y.)
