- N.Y. contractor to challenge fines over fall-protection measures
The owner of Michael C. Graham & Son Construction in New York said he will protest fines of more than $61,000 imposed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which is alleging violations by the company on fall-protection measures and other safety standards. The agency said after a job-site inspection that crews had inadequte scaffolding and inadequate training to prevent falls. Owner Michael Graham said he provided workers with the equipment needed and that he now trains employees on fall protection every morning. The Post-Standard (Syracuse, N.Y.)

- Poll: Green building expected to expand in global market by 2015
Green building is expected to have a larger global presence by 2015, according to a survey by McGraw-Hill Construction on members of the Green Building Council in 62 countries. More than half of the respondents expect green projects to comprise 60% of their work by 2015. The green-building demand is likely to grow because of its benefits for business, the study found.
