- FCC chief joins opponents of ITU cybersecurity scheme
A multilateral treaty covering the global management of voice, video and data traffic should not include a cybersecurity component, says Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, who warns that applying "one-size-fits-all" guidelines to all nations would ultimately prove counterproductive. Genachowski's concerns are shared by the head of the U.S. delegation to the International Telecommunications Regulations treaty, which will be revised next month for the first time in more than two decades.
