  • FCC: DISH's network would cost government billions
The Federal Communications Commission criticized DISH Network's plan to use satellite frequencies to provide terrestrially based wireless service, saying it would hurt the value of "H block" spectrum that the government hopes to sell commercially, the agency said Monday. "DISH is seeking to take a public asset potentially worth billions of dollars and turn it into a private windfall," the FCC said in a statement. DISH has urged regulators to reconsider its ruling, saying it would cripple its plans. The company denies claims that the H block would be compromised.
