Wrigley is revamping the look of its Skittles packaging in the U.K. and adding Skittles Confused, in which the color and flavor do not match. - Euromonitor lists fastest rising, falling chocolate markets
A Euromonitor International analysis has ranked the 10 fastest expanding and 10 fastest constricting chocolate markets around the globe from 2007 to 2012, visualized in this interactive map on ConfectioneryNews.com. Belarus ranks first among growing markets at 556.6% expansion, though the company's head of food research, Lee Linthicum, said government price-fixing makes that measurement unreliable and claims Brazil is the strongest market. - Stevia Council president touts rapid acceptance
Zanna McFerson, president of the International Stevia Council, said the natural zero-calorie sweetener has "fundamentally changed the sweetener market" since it was approved in 2008 for use in food and drinks. Stevia and products made with stevia can now be found in more than 56 million U.S. households, she said. In Europe, the sweetener is not yet approved for use in all product categories, which McFerson said is a goal for the ISC. FoodNavigator
