- Dinneen slams AAA's "ignorance" on E15 testing
AAA's recent call for the Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider its waiver on E15 "reflects a pathetic ignorance of EPA's unprecedented test program" on E15, said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. - Expert: AAA's anti-E15 stance is a "disservice to consumers"
Radio talk-show host and automotive-service expert Bobby Likis has criticized AAA's call to suspend the sale of E15 due to concerns about engine damage. "To state that ethanol damages engines is a disservice to consumers ... specifically to AAA members," Likis said. "The fact is there's no proof that ethanol damages engines," he said. - RFS is good for the economy, advances energy security
 The Environmental Protection Agency was right to deny a petition to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard, writes Bryan Taliaferro, first vice president of the Virginia Grain Producers Association, in a letter to the editor. "The RFS has been of significant net value to the economy and is helping to reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, lower consumer gasoline costs by an average of 89 cents a gallon, all without interrupting the supply of feed grains to livestock and poultry producers," he writes. - IRFA's Shaw: Big Oil's tax subsidies skew the fuel market
The oil industry is being disingenuous when it calls for the repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard because no other industry in the U.S. has benefited more from federal incentives than oil, writes Monte Shaw, executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. Petroleum-based fuels are the only liquid transportation fuels receiving tax subsidies, the oldest of which "dates back to 1913," Shaw notes. "Big Oil's actions do not reflect a commitment to free market principles. Rather, their actions reflect a reliance on a big business-big government partnership to limit consumers' fuel choices," Shaw asserts. The Des Moines Register (Iowa)

- Thailand's Bangchak to invest $3.3M in new E85 filling stations
Thailand's Bangchak Petroleum is planning to spend about $3.3 million to increase the number of its E85 filling stations. A surge in the number of E85-compatible vehicles in Thailand has boosted demand for the blend, said Bangchak Petroleum President Anusorn Sangnimnuan.
