    Transplants of bone marrow stem cells safely improved motor skills in macaque monkeys with Parkinson's disease, according to a Japanese study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. In the study, the cells were derived from the monkeys' own bone marrow, so there was no risk of tissue rejection. The researchers said the method "may expand the availability of cell sources for cell-based therapies for patients with Parkinson's disease."
