- PET/CT has value in clear cell renal cell carcinoma assessment
PET/CT imaging with iodine-124-girentuximab demonstrated high specificity and sensitivity in detecting clear cell renal cell carcinoma, according to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. "This is the first example of a prospective multicenter study to demonstrate the ability of PET/CT to identify an aggressive cancer phenotype," said researcher Dr. Chaitanya R. Divgi of Columbia University Medical Center. The findings indicate the method may be valuable in evaluating renal masses and help avoid unneeded surgery, Divgi said. CancerNetwork.com
