PET/CT has value in clear cell renal cell carcinoma assessment
PET/CT imaging with iodine-124-girentuximab demonstrated high specificity and sensitivity in detecting clear cell renal cell carcinoma, according to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. "This is the first example of a prospective multicenter study to demonstrate the ability of PET/CT to identify an aggressive cancer phenotype," said researcher Dr. Chaitanya R. Study adds data on sugar's degradation process
Researchers using NMR spectroscopy have discovered the degradation of glucosone, a dicarbonyl sugar, involves a reaction pathway that influences the rearrangement of the molecule's carbon backbone. The researchers have named the process "C1-C2 transposition." The finding may add to the knowledge regarding sugars' degradation procedure and help in the fight against diabetes, according to the study published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Carestream says MyView is being tried in U.S., Italy
Carestream Health said its MyView Web portal is being tested at U.S. and Italian trial sites. The portal allows patients to securely access imaging scans, including PET, with the option to download them to their own PC or tablet. Houston Medical Imaging, the U.S. test site, said it is seeing success with the use of MyView, with roughly 1,500 patients logging on in the last three months. The Minnesota Department of Health announced it will be part of the Image Wisely and Image Gently campaigns. It is the first state health agency to agree to the pledges. Administration rejects partial expansion of Medicaid
Federal officials said they could not fund partial expansions of Medicaid enrollment by states under the Affordable Care Act. "Consistent with the law, there is not an option for enhanced match for a partial or phased-in Medicaid expansion," acting CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner said. A "blended rate" for the federal contribution to Medicaid had been on the table in previous rounds of deficit-reduction talks and in the administration's proposed budget.
