Congressional aides say the leading candidates for secretary of Commerce are Symantec Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Thompson and former Time Warner chairman Richard Parsons. Both are touting a rare combination of business acumen and Washington experience. The transition team declined to comment on the vacancy.
