Mexico confiscates hundreds of drug-runner aircraft

Aviation eBrief | Mar 17, 2010

Mexican authorities have seized more than 400 planes from drug traffickers, and the majority are private planes such as single-engine Cessnas. Pilots have also been flying ultralights, which can land on 100 feet of runway, to evade radar detection. Some aircraft have modifications such as homemade extra fuel tanks or larger tires for landing on rocky ground. USA TODAY (03/16)
