CSI debuting GreenFormat at Greenbuild

CEDIA selects chief executive

Clinton Climate Initiative funds energy efficiency projects

The Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program, a program administered by the Clinton Climate Initiative, helps hook up facility executives with energy service companies, which identify projects that can reduce energy by 20 percent to 50 percent. Facility executives will sign up for an energy performance contract with the ESCO, then be eligible for financing from financial institutions participating in the program. The energy savings are then used to repay the loan. Learn more.

According to a technical note from Frost & Sullivan: "oBIX is a laudable attempt at creating a truly open specification that the building automation systems (BAS) and IT industry can use to interface. The standard is a work in progress and more work needs to be done with respect to specifications and to ensure visibility in the market." Read more. ENERGY STAR TVs now even more energy efficient

Effective Nov. 1, the ENERGY STAR label on televisions will designate the most efficient TVs in terms of overall energy use instead of just "off" or standby mode energy use. In 2009, if all televisions sold in the U.S. met the new ENERGY STAR requirements, the savings in energy costs would be about $1 billion, and greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by the equivalent of about 1 million cars.
