Solar capacity rises, but demand remains uncertain

The worldwide manufacturing capacity for solar photovoltaic equipment will grow 56% this year compared with year-ago levels, according to DisplaySearch, a division of the market research firm NPD Group. However, the group also noted demand is down 17%. Meanwhile, some Wall Street analysts say some makers of solar equipment will fail over the coming years. Others say government stimulus projects, along with steady demand, will keep companies healthy.
