Tasman Networks makes routers for services aggregation and scalable network access. Products include multi-scalable routers, mutimegabit routers, and aggregation edge routers. Tasman customers include Cable and Wireless, Cogent, Dallas Semiconductor, and the University of Texas. The company was founded in 1997 and is owned by its officers and outside investors. Backers include New Enterprise Associates and Mayfield Fund. Tasman has a software development center in Bangalore, India, in addition to its Silicon Valley headquarters. Nortel Networks has agreed to acquire Tasman Networks for about $99 million in cash. The deal is set to close in the first quarter of 2006.
