Company Overview

Company: Bell Canada International Inc.
Industry: Wireless Communications Services
Website: http://www.bci.ca

Formed to invest in telecom operations outside Canada, Bell Canada International (BCI) once owned stakes in communications companies in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela. But BCI has sold most of those interests, along with its former holdings in Asia. BCI's only remaining holding is its 76% stake in Brazil's Canbras Communications. The company's plan of arrangement, arrived at in 2002, calls for liquidation of assets to be distributed to shareholders. Final distribution is expected in mid-2007. BCE, Canada's largest telecom firm, owns 74% of BCI.
