Broadband satellite resigned to smallest niches
Just a decade ago, satellite companies such as Loral Skynet seemed poised to offer widespread broadband services. But with the remarkable growth of cable, DSL and other ground-based broadband services, the satellite industry doesn't "expect anything more than the tiniest fraction of a percent to be connected by satellite broadband," according to the president of Hughes Network Systems Europe.
