Alltel completes spinoff of local phone assets
Alltel on Monday is expected to announce that the spinoff of its local phone business is complete. The telecom is merging the business with Valor Communications to create a new company called Windstream, which will have about 3.4 million phone lines in 16 states. Alltel plans to focus on its wireless assets.
