EU approves sale of AOL German access business
European Union regulators cleared the way Tuesday for Telecom Italia to acquire AOL's German access unit for $856 million in cash. With the deal, Telecom Italia will become Germany's No. 2 broadband provider, but "the combined firm would continue to face a number of strong, effective competitors, notably the incumbent Deutsche Telekom," the European Commission said.
