Sen. Stevens favors telecom deregulation
Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, during a hearing on industry convergence, came out in favor of fewer regulations as a means to stimulate more competition. "It is our hope that as we level the playing field we will seek the most deregulatory course possible consistent with the public interest," he said.
