Weak demand depresses Level 3 results; 8x8 posts gains
Level 3 Communications missed Wall Street estimates, posting a 12% decline in revenue in the quarter as the recession and competition continued to dampen both demand for its services as well as pricing. The news was better for VoIP provider 8x8, which added a record 2,907 business customers in the quarter, a 4.1% increase from the previous period as the company reported a small profit.
