Boeing 787 proposal includes 3 layers of protection
A comprehensive Boeing proposal to return 787s to flight will require extensive testing, Federal Aviation Administration chief Michael Huerta says. "Once we approve a plan, then we have to go through the process of actually implementing the plan, which would involve a great deal of testing, a great deal of further analysis and re- engineering before those planes will be flying again," he said. Boeing's chief of commercial airplanes said the proposal includes three layers of protection for the lithium-ion batteries.
