TSA could require third-party testing for OEM equipment
The Transportation Security Administration is considering a plan that would require original equipment manufacturers to test their security equipment with a third party before undergoing agency testing. The TSA would establish "preliminary system development gateways" to test explosive detection devices, passenger checkpoint and baggage handling system integration, interoperability issues, human factor assessments and environmental testing. It is planning to share more information with OEMs and third-party providers on Jan. 16, 2013 via an event, though a venue has not been selected.
