Alcohol ads play up masculine appeal
Attempting to juice the appeal of premium spirits in a recessionary economy, marketers are highlighting their brands' masculine appeal. Recent campaigns include Energy BBDO's "Guys Never Change" for Jim Beam bourbon, and an ad for Diageo's Ketel One that proclaims: "There was a time when men didn't drink their vodka from delicately-painted perfume bottles. ... There was a time when men were men."
