Cases of open-angle glaucoma in U.S. rise 22% in a decade
Open-angle glaucoma cases grew by more than 22% in the past decade, affecting more than 2.7 million Americans age 40 years and older, according to a report from Prevent Blindness America and the National Eye Institute. Blacks had a fivefold increased risk of the eye condition. Statins may prevent the disease or halt its progression when it is detected early.
