Cases of Alzheimer's in U.S. expected to surge to 14M by 2050
Almost 14 million people could suffer from Alzheimer's disease in 2050, triple the 4.7 million seen in 2010, according to a study in the journal Neurology. The projected rise is tied to the aging of baby boomers. "This is where we're headed if we don't make any progress in Alzheimer's research," study author Jennifer Weuve said, calling efforts so far "frustrating."
