Research links long commutes, early death for women
Social geographer Erika Sandow and her colleagues have uncovered evidence of a link between lengthy commutes -- more than 31 miles in one direction -- and early death. The link applies only to women who have low levels of income or education, researchers found. The research, which was presented at AAG's Annual Meeting, was based on a longitudinal database provided by Statistics Sweden.
