Flu particularly dangerous for seniors this year, CDC data show
Although influenza is beginning to taper nationwide, the outbreak remains serious and seniors are at particular risk, CDC epidemiologist Michael Jhung reported Friday. Jhung said the rate of deaths associated with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 116 per 100,000 cases among patients older than 65. "We've still got several weeks of the season yet, so it's going to be much worse," Jhung said.
