Four for the Future: 2012 AAIA Impact Awards

Nominees are being accepted for the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association Impact Award: Four for the Future, which annually honors four aftermarket professionals, age 40 or younger, who have made remarkable contributions within the aftermarket industry. The award was created in 2010, and is administered by the AAIA Marketing and Communications Committee on behalf of the association. The award is open to anyone aged 40 or younger with relevant professional work experience, of which a minimum of two years must be in the automotive aftermarket. Nominations are due by Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, and honorees will be notified in October. Winners will be selected by the AAIA Marketing and Member Relations Committee, and recommended to the AAIA Executive Committee for final approval. The four Impact Award winners will be recognized during the AAIA Town Hall Breakfast on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at AAPEX in Las Vegas. Nomination forms are available on the AAIA website. AAIA elects Tim Lee chairman of the board

The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association elected Tim Lee, Lang Distributing, as chairman of the AAIA Board of Directors for 2012-13 at Spring Leadership Days on May 4 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Lee will replace Chairman Bob Egan of Federal-Mogul on July 1. He remains active in the daily management of Lang's 22 owned/affiliated jobber stores in Illinois and Indiana, under the Bumper to Bumper program banner. Lee has served as treasurer of AAIA and as a governor, treasurer and chairman of AWDA. Lee has been active in the AWDA University and University of the Aftermarket, where he served as vice chancellor. He continues to serve as treasurer emeritus of AWDA.

NCMA recognizes excellence in automotive catalogs

The National Catalog Manager Associations recognized winning submissions in several catalog media with the President's Award for Catalog Excellence at the 39th Annual Knowledge Exchange conference. NCMA recognized the best examples of paper, web and, new this year, mobile cataloging in the automotive aftermarket. The submissions were evaluated on criteria such as design, navigation, content, physical specifications and overall impression. Electronic Data Excellence and the NCMA awards are presented annually as part of the association’s Knowledge Exchange conference.
