Down syndrome raises obesity risk in children
Children with Down syndrome had a twofold higher risk of being overweight or obese on average compared with their peers without the disorder, according to a study in the journal Pediatrics. Researchers looked at almost 1,600 Dutch children with Down syndrome and found that approximately one-fourth were overweight beginning at age 4.
