One cigarette can damage arteries in young adults
Canadian researchers said smoking even one cigarette can stiffen the arteries of young adults by 25%, raising their risk of heart disease or stroke. The study of 18- to 30-year-olds shows that even light smoking in healthy people can damage arteries and impact their ability to cope with physical exertion.
