Study: Heart problems, deaths linked to inhaler lung drugs
Inhaler lung drugs, including Boehringer Ingelheim's Spiriva Handihaler and Atrovent, may slightly elevate the risk of heart attacks and deaths, particularly in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to a U.S. study. A lung expert said more research needs to be done to determine what led to the increased risks because the treatments are not known to cause heart problems.
