Not all caregivers use albuterol appropriately for child asthma
A study that included 114 caregivers found 68% used albuterol appropriately when a child's asthma flared up, while 32% either undertreated or overtreated the child. The implementation of an asthma action plan or a recent primary care visit about asthma care didn't improve appropriate use, but a recent ED visit or hospitalization did increase the chance of appropriate use.
