Study looks at Facebook's effect on children

A recent study unveiled at the annual American Psychological Association conference found that students spending a lot of time on Facebook have lower academic performance and higher risk of mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Conversely, the research found that students who spend more time on Facebook also show a stronger sense of identity and empathy for others. Larry Rosen, the psychology professor who did the study, says parents must find a balance in how children spend their time online.
