Virginia camp shares HIV prevention strategies with young girls

Twenty-one girls ages 13 to 21 who are at risk for unhealthy relationships participated in a weeklong camp that aimed to increase their self-esteem and teach them ways to curb HIV infection. The pilot program, which was part of an HIV prevention program in Virginia, featured activities, lectures from experts, and discussions on HIV/AIDS and its negative effect on black people in the state.
