Matching parenting to child's personality may reduce depression risk

Children are less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety when mothers tailor their parenting style to their children's personality, according to a three-year study published in the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology. "Parents should be there to help -- but not take over -- in difficult situations and help their children learn to navigate challenges on their own," said Liliana Lengua, co-author of the study.
