Study: Dog gene may provide insight on childhood epilepsy Scientists reported in the online edition of PLoS Genetics that they discovered a gene, called LGI2, in a dog that plays a role in epilepsy. Although the newly discovered gene has not been previously associated with epilepsy in humans, the finding could help shed light on child's brain development and mechanisms behind remissions of childhood epilepsy, the researchers said.
