Flu leaves N.H. districts gearing up for possible lack of substitutes

School officials in New Hampshire are preparing for a shortage of substitute teachers if many of their full-time teachers become sick with the flu. "Obviously, we've been thinking a lot in advance. One thing we're doing is actively building our sub ranks by hiring more subs so that we have a large pool to draw from," the human resources director of one district said. Educators are also preparing online instructional packets that can be accessed at home or in the classroom with a substitute teacher.
