Sinopec reacts to U.S. shale gas boom
Sinopec announced it will take steps to reduce petrochemical costs, including moving away from using naphtha as feedstock. "U.S. shale gas contains lots of components that can help petrochemical producers significantly lower costs. This is something that we did not expect before," said Wang Tianpu, vice chairman and president at the company.
