Lower 48 states are benefiting from shale production, report finds
Lower 48 unconventional oil and natural gas production this year will contribute $63 billion in local, state and federal tax revenues, according to a report from IHS. The 16 states that are producing will also generate nearly 1.3 million jobs, the study determined. "The unconventional oil and gas revolution is having a bigger impact across the country, including in non-producing states, than is generally recognized," said Daniel Yergin, vice chairman of IHS.
