Voyagers are "shocked" by plastic debris in "Garbage Patch"

CNN reports on the month-long voyage of California crusader Mary Crowley into a part of the North Pacific Gyre known as the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch." The crew of the research ship New Horizon reportedly was shocked by "the density and the pervasiveness and extent" of small plastic refuse they found.
