Cerealus receives U.S. patent for fluorocarbon-free material
Maine-based biopolymer manufacturer Cerealus Holdings has been awarded a U.S. patent for its Holdout product, which is a bio-based food-packaging alternative that is fluorocarbon-free because it is made with a corn protein, zein. "Our technology will finally enable consumers to access sustainable and biodegradable food packaging on a wider scale," said CEO Tony Jabar.
