House Republicans criticize plans to widen fracking oversight
House Republicans on Wednesday said that the federal government's efforts to broaden oversight of hydraulic fracturing could stifle domestic development of shale resources. The Department of the Interior is working on chemical-disclosure rules for fracking and an update to regulations for fracking on public land. "It's very easy to understand why no one has had serious harm as a result of [fracking on public land]. It is not harming people," said Rep. John Fleming, R-La.
