New York has released three designs for the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement that "resemble two pairs of tuning forks, a regatta, and a cream-colored version of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge." Price estimates for them range between $3.14 billion and $4 billion, less than the estimated $5 billion. The state’s advisory committee has recommended the least expensive option, produced by Tappan Zee Constructors, led by Fluor Corp. It's the one that looks like the tuning forks. The state's Thruway Authority will vote on the proposed designs at a Dec. 17 meeting.
