Middle-school STEM initiative targets achievement gap
To help address the shortage of minorities and women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math, the nonprofit education organization Citizen Schools has launched a STEM training program that will offer students hand-on experiences in STEM-related careers. With the help of a $3 million federal Investing in Innovation grant, Citizen Schools officials will work with STEM professionals to provide these opportunities for middle-school students.
